2 unique baseball-themed sculptures for the City of Surprise Stadium each inviting patrons in at the entry gates. Bounce follows the trajectory of a ball after it has been knocked out of the park. It's path becomes a shade structure with a plasma-cut cotton pattern reflecting on the land's past use. Founded as an agricultural city, the sculpture reflects upon how Surprise has evolved from cotton fields to baseball fields. The second sculpture, Swing, shows the movement of the bat and that array made from aluminum baseball bats. The shade cast from the bats resembles the stitching of a baseball bat. Each bat is trimmed with reflective tape for an IFYKYK moment when taking photography in the evening with flash. Expected installation Fall 2024.
